Oh wow! Laura - were these mammals easier to capture with the camera than the birds? They are so crisp - they almost look 3-dimensional. Great job!

I love the picture of the bison!
It stirs up such strong feelings about what our country must have looked like years ago. I was amazed when I was visiting a friend in Minnesota and we found them grazing right along the interstate! Not too many here in Maryland! With all the development there's not enough pasture :( Great Blog!

Mary, mammals ARE easier to photograph than birds. Because they're so much larger and/or so much closer, the photos aren't zoomed as much, providing much more depth of field. And because they don't move around as much, it's easier for me to get to a good vantage point before clicking away.
