I love the picture of the bison! It stirs up such strong feelings about what our country must have looked like years ago. I was amazed when I was visiting a friend in Minnesota and we found them grazing right along the interstate! Not too many here in Maryland! With all the development there's not enough pasture :( Great Blog!
Mary, mammals ARE easier to photograph than birds. Because they're so much larger and/or so much closer, the photos aren't zoomed as much, providing much more depth of field. And because they don't move around as much, it's easier for me to get to a good vantage point before clicking away.
One of my goals in life, as the "Dr. Ruth of Ornithology," is to help Stephen Colbert explain about the birds and the bees to Stephen Jr. before the poor young eagle has to pick up the facts of life on the streets.

Oh wow! Laura - were these mammals easier to capture with the camera than the birds? They are so crisp - they almost look 3-dimensional. Great job!
