Wow, Laura, that's so cool! I have some house finches in my yard that sound sorta like him.
If you can imagine it, Painted Buntings aren't just common in the Wichita Mountains--they're ABUNDANT. It was hard to find places where you could stand without hearing at least one. Took my breath away!
Oh, my! What an gorgeous bird- pretty song too.
A Painted Bunting has been spotted north of Silver Bay on the North Shore of MN. Way out of its range.
